if you'd asked me 2 years ago before I had a daughter the answer would have been "yes." Now that I have her it would kill me to miss a year of her growing up.

So... we'll be seeing you on the next season of Ice Road Trucker? Or maybe Deadliest Catch?

If I were single and didn't own a house, yes - I could do it, for the right pay.

I understand Toronto strippers make excellent money. And moving away for only a year? No problem. Go for it if it's something you like and the pay is good.

My husband did, if you watch Ice Pilots, he worked up there ( not that company though). Got experience which helped him get other jobs down here. It's worth going for the experience. He knew teachers up there who loved it, ( and a few who didn't) but for one school year a person can stand almost anything. It would really help your career. I didn't go up north for experience, instead I went to the local reserve here and it definately helped me get into the job I have now, which I love! ( P.s our school here needs two teachers to cover mat leaves and at least one teacher for a new grade 2 class we are adding)

My wife has been after me to go crab fishing in Alaska.

I don't think she loves me anymore.

No amount of experience will help me get a job here. I already have international experience working with some of the most behaviourally challenging classes.....and nada. It's all who you know down here and that's it.
