Not a thing wrong with that.....that is actually the part of the Federalist system / Canadian culture that seemed the most odd to me while I was living there....almost a taboo against expressing patriotism.

I remember there was a Molson's beer commerical...this would have been 2000 maybe? some dude going on about how "I am a Canadian!!!" and the crowds at hockey games would go ape shit....it was in the op / ed pages of all the papers....as an American witnessing all of this, I was like "So?!" You're proud of the fact that you are a Canadian....proud of your fine Country....what's the fucking big deal about that?! I mean, that was some pretty bush league bragging from an American point of view.

We just don't tend to be chest-pounders. Canadians typically have what I refer to as a "quiet patriotism." We're proud to be Canadian and it's rather "gauche" to scream it at the top of your lungs. Call it assumed, rather than something that we have to prove to anyone.

I agree....to a point....but which "Canadians" are you referring to?

It seemed to me that "Canadian" was a pretty tough demographic to nail down....Toronto is a perfect example....lots of Pakistanis....Indians...Chinese....Koreans....Phii pinos....but I'm not sure how many of them thought of themselves as "Canadians?"
