Guinea pig.

Dogs needs 24 hour care, cats couldn't give a shit about you.

Depends on how much time I have to spend with it.
Lots of time... the dog would be great.
Just a little time... the cat is a smarter choice.

And for those of you who think cats aren't loving, devoted pets... all I can say is you've obviously never taken the time to develop a bond with one.
Sure, they're more self sufficient, but I see that as a good thing if your living or working arrangements don't allow you the kind of time that a more needy pet would require.

Dog. Max loves me unconditionally.

I think since we got Liam, that Erik has figured out the bond a person has with a dog versus what he doesn't have with his cat. Not saying you can't have a bond with a cat, for me it is just harder.

My cats meet me at the door everyday and cry at me until I sit down to spend at least ten minutes loving on them. They sleep with us every night. When I was gone for two weeks after my accident my roommate said both cats were miserable and gloomy

My cats are more loving than any dog I've ever had.

I don't know too many dogs that write.

Had a pig that would run to the side of the cage and wait for me to pick him up. He was cool piggie.

I'd have to agree with Tom on this one. Only because there is no other dog out there that could compare to the one i had from when i was 12-25. She was the absolute best dog AMJs dad has ever created and when he made her he broke the mold.
