I've seen quite a bit of Icon gear fall apart pretty badly in street crashes down here. Especially the textile crap. It seems to be fashion before function...

That's pretty true of most textiles though. Meshes and Textiles are pretty much 1 use equipment. Leather is better.

Well from my personal experience with the Icon Hooligan Decay jacket it is top notch. True its not a leather jacket and yea it might not last in a real bad crash but i have no doubt it will keep me safe in the wreck. Like i said befor i have wrecked in this jacket once before. I was on a downhill grade going about 45. I had new Michelin Pilot Activ tires on the Hyo and i had ridden almost 500 miles before attempting the curves to remove the coating on the tires but they were still slick and it wasnt gripping. I low sided slid on my back and rolled over onto my stomach then got up. Nothing happened to the jacket and i had holes in my pants but the jacket was 100% okay. I had a bruise on my elbow and one on my back right shoulder blade but nothing on the jacket. Because of this i am 100% confident in Icons quality. I have a pair of Joe Rocket Gloves and they shitted out on me in one season.

Icon uses 300-grade textiles for their jackets, which is the lowest grade. You also see that in jackets like the infamous Joe Rocket Phoenix. A* and other better brands use 600-grade textiles. The best textiles use 1000-grade textiles in impact / slide areas. It's worse.

It's still better than riding in jeans and a tank-top.

The reason you don't see Icon in racing is because they don't make track gear dudes... Why do we keep having this argument?

All Icon textile jackets aren't made with "inferior" materials...

Icon makes VERY high end gear, every bit as good as A*, Teknic, Joe Rocket, etc...

Ummm... who crashes more stunters or regular street riders? As I've said before, I have crashed A*s gear-fell apart, I have crashed Dainese gear-fell apart, I have an Icon Neo Daytona jacket that has been down three times and it still looks like new minus a few scratches.

Is there crappy gear out there? You bet but to lump all of Icon gear in there because some of their cheaper gear isn't up to "Moto Gp standards is ludicrous to say the least.

The only problem I have with Icon gear is most of it is tailored "casual cut"

I prefer stuff that is snug all over, for better warmth and crash protection

I just realized earlier I used the words "Icon" and "fashion" in the same sentence....my apologies.
