Good heavens. Well, I have to admit, while I dont agree with the tactics, I am a supporter of their ideals. After all, white man did come in and give them a few pretty beads then massacre their peoples so we could steal everything they owned.

Things were somewhat different in Canada, though only by a matter of degrees. We're a nation of negotiators. Unfortunately all of those negotiations resulted in so many conflicting treaties, that no one really knows what's what anymore. The way that I see it in a free nation of laws, there is no excuse for this sort of behaviour. You start burning shit? I lose any and all empathy for you.

Well, like I said, I dont agree with their tactics by any stretch, but looking at it from their side, they are getting attention, which is much more than I am sure they get when they go to endless and pointless govt. meetings trying to get something accomplished. Now if only they could figure out how to get the right kind of attention they'd have something going for them.

If their initial demands were more reasonable, then they'd have gotten more of the "right" kind of attention. The folks in the Caledonia, Ontario area want the entire Grand River basin. Take a look at the map here:
