They do require a lot of maintenance, but they are also quite resilient, being able to take a fair amount of battle damage and make it down safeish.

That's a shame, sorry to hear it.

I seem to remember another firefighting C-130 crashed like 5 years ago from losing its wings, like the main spar (spars?) completely collapsed. I believe there was video of it.
