Was Irene even a tropical storm by the time it reached NY? I know it was downgraded to a category 1 while the eye was still near NC.

Not sure, I think it may have still been a 1 when it got here. Seems like jersey took it a lot worse then we did. A few friends on other forums had soem serious house/basement flooding.

Now the papers and media are touting the mayor of NYC fo rdoing a great job, hate to tell them the storm wasnt that bad, but at least they were better prepared, esp after dropping the ball on the blizzard we got last winter.
