I want a dual sport. Specifically, I'd like to get a motard and put dirt wheels on it, or vice versa, so I can swap out wheels easily for different riding. If this thing is in good shape, do you think it's worth the asking price?

He's pretty much including everything I'd ever do to a DRZ. Well, I probably wouldn't do the big bore kit.

The trick is talking my wife into it. It would not be my only ride; I'm keeping the 10.

My main concern would be mileage and that big bore kit. How much does a big bore kit impact reliability on a DRZ?

I'm reading on ThumperTalk that reliability really suffers with these big bore kits.

Anytime you go into the engine of a thumper you're taking life away from it.

Thats a good price....not great

I wanted soemthing with more guts than the DRZ....because I knew I'd be doing hiway riding too (the GOOD roads are 20-40 miles away on hiway) so I didn't want something that would be screaming like a banshee trying to GET there.

I HAPPENED to get a bulletproof tank in the MZ......reliable Yamaha Raptor motor that will run forever if left alone....yeah I've debated a 747 kit, but the cons outweigh the pro's in the long run.

I had a friend who blew up his stock drz, then did the big bore. He only had the big bore kit on for about 6 months before it tore itself up again. He's back to a stock top end now and it's running great, fwiw.

Those engines have some serious downlow nuts. I regularly did highway speeds on a 660 raptor and I'm sure your bike is a good bit lighter.

I'm still hammering the wife. I'm probably going to focus on a stock DRZ, preferably the SM.
