He probably 1) has enough money not to care and/or 2) was down for the giant insurance payday!

This.

There were a lot of people that weren't home when the area was evacuated. They were not allowed into the areas to retrieve anything.

Friends of mine were recounting stories of going door to door to alert neighbors. Only to find no one home and struggle with the decision to let horses out of barns.

No one home, let the horses go...

And if I had 175 cars and that shit was affecting the other side of the city, I'd be making arrangements...

That's what they did.

What arrangements? They were arresting people that would violate barricades. It may have been different in the Magnolia fire than the Bastrop fire. After having two fires close enough that our neighbors were evacuated, you REALLY start to weigh what is truly important. I mean, we have two cars, one truck, three motorcycles in my garage. And, only three drivers. We could probably fit two of the bikes into the truck. But then, we can't take other stuff with us.

What do you take?

We still have bags set aside to grab and go. I've double checked our insurance policies to make sure stuff is updated in case there is a loss.

My mind was just on things that I will need over the next few days that can't be bought at the store. Like my glasses/contacts, prescriptions, etc.

Then other things that could easily fit in the car that can't be replaced. Old pictures, certain artwork and the ostrich egg lamp my husband bought me in Capetown. Cars and bikes didn't cross my mind...but then, that's why I don't have 175 of them.

Most importantly was me, cats, overnight bag, get the eff out.
