Ever met your hero? - Page 2

I don't have a Hero persay. I do however strive to by like my dad. My family is the most important thing in the world to me. Hopefully someday my son can say the same thing.

I met my Grandfather 1st when I was an hour old... and according to my parents was in awe of him from the first sight... apparently I was bawling up until I saw him... then just stared at him with my mouth open...

he passed in 2000... I miss him every damn day... wished he'd seen me join the AF... he'd have liked that

I meet my hero every time I look in the mirror..... J/K.

I don't really have one hero. I can think of a few people that I admire, but I wouldn't call them a hero.

Seeing people beat the odds is pretty powerful. Working in a technical college where most of our students are adults with near impossible hurdles, I have lots of heroes.

When I worked closely with students, I met many single mothers working more than one job and still going to school. One of my favorite students used to live in the projects and deal crack. He now has his masters degree and mentors some of our students.

You know what, you're right... *hero* is a bit strong of a word.

This guy just makes me giggity, and I try REALLY hard to NOT come off as a fanboi. It takes a lot to give me butterflies, but this guy does that to me. I'll fill you in, give you pictures and all that... just can't say anything until *it* happens.

Nope can't say i have. I have a few really good friends and i see them once in a blue moon, rest of the time im a loner.

Yes, I did meet my hero for just a second and got to shake his hand: Bob Hope.

He never served in the military (too young for WWI and too old for everything else). He was a Canuck by birth but he loved his adopted country. He did a lot of things for GIs. During Desert Storm, him and his wife were already older than dirt yet they braved the sand storms and the 120-degree heat to go and entertained the troops. And you know that they didn't make a dime off those USO tours. It doesn't get much better than that.

I don't have any heros but there are people in the world that I respect and look up to.

I did meet Stormin' Normin Schwarzkopf several years ago when he was going on a hunting trip with my boss...that was pretty cool.
