I have a Droid X that is supplied from work. I love this phone (work email, browser, maps, hotspot to the net for other computer use etc.)...though the application could have been done better with the actual phone portion. If you don't press the END button on the phone and go directly to the Main Screen after you're done with a call, the phone will not disconnect. Also, there is no phone number dial clear. You have to manually back out the digits if you fuck a number up.

Old LG flip phone... it's dying so I need a new one, but I want something to make calls and text. No data plan, no internet, no apps.

I think someone should market the "Dumb Phone".
"For when you just want phone that actually works...not a toy" would be a damn good tag line.

I bought a toy that happens to make phone calls on the rare occasion I can't take care of business online or by texting.
I don't like thinking (I've never been good at it) so having a device that does all my thinking for me is important. |

I was very happy with my simple mobile phones I used up until a couple of years ago. I tried using a Windows smart phone about 5 years ago and hated it after a few days. Went back to my simple phone.
I think the tide turned for me when I worked our company's yearly show in Houston a couple of years back. The guys I was working with in the training sessions would be texting me non-stop because we had some HW/networking failures we were trying to get straightened out in time for the first class. By the time I would finish replying to a TXT on my old school phone, I had received 10 more. And the fact that I couldn't check my corporate mail was a huge hindrance. After that I decided to make my life easier and take the plunge. The ability to quickly TXT and/or e-mail and/or access my desktops and files through my phone is invaluable for me when away from my office or while travelling. I don't think I could ever go back, unless I chose a different career path. |
