Little silly to be arguing over the definition of a tax and the definition of a premium.

How about this, in stead of punishing the unemployed for being out or work. Let's crack down on illegal workers in this country, deport the illegals and tighten our borders.

That or make the unemployed go to trade school or help pay for relocation away from low employment areas.

At any rate, as someone said, I'd focus on welfare rats before I started with the people collecting insurance. That's just me though....

I agree with Paul and AL, even though they don't seem to agree with each other. Money is collected by the government for each person who is working to pay for the insurance/tax. This would be like a person wadding up their vehicle and their insurance company requiring him to come work for them.

What if you get hurt on one of these jobs? Who's going to pay for that?
This would be fine if unemployment didn't last 2 FUCKING YEARS!

I say make their asses work. Maybe only 2 days a week, but they need to do something.

Alright then. It's settled. We shoot illegals on sight. What a load off my shoulders. Let all go out and have a beer now.

Under the "tax deal" just passed, unemployment benefits have been extended another 13 months. The funding from that comes directly from federal coffers. It's not the same money as traditional unemployment, which is paid by employers.

Actually, they don't. The federal government doesn't care about your car insurance. Car insurance is required by the state, and then only if you have a car that you operate on public roadways. If you choose not to own a car or choose not to operate your car on public roadways, you don't have to purchase insurance.

Under the traditional system, this is true, but with the new 13-month extension, the program is now federally-funded, not employer-funded.

Agreed, on many counts. Fixing the illegal problem really needs to be a priority. I'm also on-board with some sort of training for unemployment recipients to get them back to work.

Welfare rats, especially those on long-term welfare, should be required to work a minimum of sixty hours per week doing something that qualifies as real WORK. Make welfare far less pleasant than employment, and we'll be making progress.
