Cropping ears is suppose to do a few things.
Cosmetics: -make them look alert -therefore make them look meaner -also makes them look less cuddly and sweet. Which why Brinks still has his. Function: -their ears are very sensitive, like Brinks, it's the only place many breeds feel any pain. -keeps their ears drier so they get less ear funk and infections. |

We had Bane's ears done fairly early and we were very protective. We traveled to philly to have them done and we went through pre-surgery bloodwork to ensure no negative reactions to the anesthesia. He never showed any signs of discomfort when we brought him home other than when we pulled the tape off. Any man will tell you pulling tape off hair hurts. We didn't have to put a cone on him or anything he didn't mess with them. Bianca's were done before we bought her. She developed a hematoma later that had to be removed. She got it from jumping and playing with Bane. Had her ear been there she probably would have ripped it. Bane is protection trained and is pretty damn adept with search and rescue excercises. We're letting Bianca hang out a bit until her personality develops a little more but she loves the sleeve. The Cane Corso was just accepted into the AKC this year we're hoping it doesn't have any negative implications for the breed. |

I mean our brew logo looks a little intimidating but all Large breeds are going to show a little teeth. My chow/samoyed showed more teeth than our Corso's |

Miz,
I don't know if you have any experience with boxers, but how do they compare to boxers? Ever since you guys got Bane, they've been gaining my interest.. Cuddle bug babies with the possibility of mayhem if provoked?? |
