No smoking
Apparently they passed a no smoking rule on this entire jobsite, not sure if its DEP or skanska, but smoking is forbidden anywhere on the jobsite. I dont smoke so it doesnt affect me either way. Whats funny is my office is in the back of the jobsite and theres a door just outside that kinda goes nowhere. This has become the new smoking spot. I am wondering how long before the powers that be catch on to this.
i was talking with an engineer about it and he said a handful of management people are taking it very seriously, so this should be interesting. The ban went into effect yesterday so its only a matter of time before someone finds out theyre comming back here. Esp since some of these management people do come back here to see/talk with me about various things. |

Some hard hats can't smoke on the job, and that affects you how?

Cause I work on an operating and construction site with hard haters. The fuckers got kicked out of buildings here and they congregate at the entrances. We finally got these little roped off areas for them to smoke, but they still get caught smoking right where people walk through. Smoking is nasty and I don't want to be forced to be around it.

My wife's work is now tobacco free, so now all the smokers hang out on the sidewalk (off company property), puffing away.
Reminded me of high school.

What pisses me off too is smokers can get away with taking 15 min breaks every hour or so, but a nonsmoker tries to pull off that shit and the whip gets cracked.

As a former smoker, I totally agree. Many of my smoke breaks were less about me needing a smoke, and more about me being sick of dealing with bullshit and wanting a break. I know the same went for many of my smoking compadres...
