Any Silverado yeniouses on here?
My brother has an '11-'12 Silverado with a V8 (think the smaller one) with auto tranny. He had the oil changed last friday and the guy told him he wasn't going to check the tranny fluid because the tube seemed to be loose and the guy didn't want to screw anything up.
Well stuff like that doesn't register on my brothers brain so he's been driving his pickup since then (personal and company truck). He comes over and his pickup is making a squeaking/squealing noise that goes up with rpms. Does it in neutral or in gear. So he tells me the story and I grab the tranny dipstick to check the fluid level and HALF the tube comes out with the dipstick. The dam thing has been broke for obviously longer than last friday when he had the oil changed. I was able to get the tube and dipstick back in and did my best to check the fluid level but there would be crap on the end so it was hard to tell what the level was at. The noise sounds just like a bad pulley but I know that's not it. When you're in front of the engine it sounds like it's at the front. Stand to the side and it sounds like it's the engine. Get underneath behind the front wheel and it sounds like it's between the engine and tranny. Can torque converters squeal? I've been around a car that had a bad torque converter but it never made any noise. |

If it's a trans noise, it sounds like the front pump. Right behind the torque converter.

I'm all about doing things myself, but that's new enough it should be under warranty yet?
