I dont see why folks are getting their panties all in a bunch, until you purchase it , the pants belong to walmart, meaning that they are tagging something they own, then when you buy it, you have the option to remove the tag because it is your property

I wouldn't worry about it too much because I don't buy clothes at Walmart

A bunch of scared people that dont understand RFID. As long as the tags are removable I dont see the problem and the stuff about Wal-Mart reading your drivers license or passport or whatever is BS.

No doubt. I wonder if the author of that article knows his credit card probably has an RFID chip in it and point-of-sale equipment has been able to read it for years.

I think the point of concern here lies with the fact that with all of the RFID chips in your new documents, and those RFID readers in use in the stores, in the hands of any unscrupulous people, they may be used to access documents on your person.

There is also concern that chips hidden in items such as TV boxes would literally transmit "I JUST BOUGHT THE MAC DADDY BIG SCREEN!" to anyone cruising the hood with a scanner.

To be fair, how often do you carry your passport to Wal-Mart? Or any other sensitive documents with RFID chips in them? I can think of two times, but both were in Beijing. In the US... not so much.

Hell, I'd be surprised if more than 15% of Wal-Mart shoppers had a passport to worry about.
