I've never worked with that particular device, but....
If the unit is as delivered, then it shouldn't require any software. Plug it into the network and go. It should offer SMB shares to Windows boxes as soon as it comes up, with no additional drivers required. It's configured via web browser by going to http://SNAP30123. That's assuming that your network automatically gives out IPs via DHCP, so that it could acquire an address. You can find the remote administration stuff here: http://support.overlandstorage.com/s...server-nas.htm

That snap30123 doesnt load anything.
I don't know servers. I tried the suggestions on this site and still nothing. Honestly I don't know what I'm doing. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...with-windows-7 I have my PC connected through then internet with my phone through usb so it's probably not going to be able to access the internet. |

Is this a surplus unit, that was previously used by someone else? If so, then the default settings would undoubtedly have been changed. There must be a procedure, somewhere, that wipes it and resets to default. It might take a O/S reinstallation on the unit.

Got it at the recyclers. Only two buttons are the reset and power and the only ports are for the power cord and ethernet.
There's 4 HDD's in the server. How would I go about installing an O/S onto it? |

I saw the instructions somewhere on the Overland site, when I was looking for the configuration instructions. You'd need the O/S though, which appears to require an account on their site.
This is the admin documentation for it, at any rate: http://support.overlandstorage.com/j..._Guide_4.0.pdf
