I missed one job and got two instead!
Well a couple of days ago I got a call from the lodge in Talkeetna, Alaska where I worked last summer and I was told because of the 1 ticket on my driving record I could not work on their bell staff. Apparently a 18+ ticket worth 2 points in GA is worth 6 in Alaska.
So suddenly I was worried that my plans to move to Alaska were done for when I got another call only minutes later from another manager at the same hotel. She was my next in line boss last year and when she saw that I wasn't going to be able to work on the Bell Staff (ridiculous money believe it or not), she wanted to know if I would be willing to work at the front desk with her again. Long story short: I now have a job as night audit from April to September when the lodge closes down for the winter. Four 10 hour shifts from 10pm to 8 am. I then called a local breakfast restauraunt I worked at last year and told her I was available to work mornings and she gave me three 8-4 shifts. Both places open up in April and both managers know that I will also be working for the other business and thus the 3 of us are going to work together so my schedule pans out and I can still have time to rest. Basically I am fucking stoked. I have been sitting around feeling useless and now I know what I am doing in life again! Its only good till September but I should be busy enough to get some good cash flow under my belt before it ends and then I can hope to find winter work in Alaska. 12.00 an hour for night audit and 7.15 an hour as a server plus tips. I am so excited to have a purpose again. You have no idea how bad I am looking forward to busting my ass and making some serious cash. 50-65 hour work weeks help me sleep well, so thats another bonus. |

Congrats! :woot:
Purpose is a funny thing.....and a necessary thing. I speak from the unemployed side of things. |

Yeah, at first being unemployed was nice. I was able to catch up on lots of things but that soon faded and I fell into mass boredom and poverty.
I look forward to being busy, even though 3 months from now I will miss the laying around the house uselessly. |
