Toronto Salvation Army ripped off
The upshot is that it seems that the Toronto Executive Director of the Salvation Army was selling off toys, wholesale, and then pocketing the money. A forensic audit says that roughly TWO MILLION DOLLARS worth of toys have gone missing. He's been fired and it's being investigated by police.
Meanwhile the Ottawa area Executive Director was fired over $250,000.00 that seems to have gone missing under his watch. http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/arti...t-charity-says

Bit of a difference between money that's freely given for charity and money that's going to be owed by every citizen, many of whom didn't want it spent in the first place.

Now they've found stolen toys in something like three separate warehouses, around the city. They arrested a guy from Oshawa (to the east of Toronto) as being the guy who owned/rented the space.

This is sad , particularly for me , because when I was getting clean the Salvation Amy were the only people to step up and help my family , because I had gotten paid yet. There was no money and my wife and son were hungry. The Sally's have had me ever since. I will walk to wherever I hear the bell to drop in a a $10 spot. and that is on top of the $600 a year we give them. I hope these people are made to understand what desperate is really like. So they know who they stole from.

I've seen both good and bad from the Sally Anne. I've seen the good works they do for families and children but then again I've seen them turn away someone who was just released from jail, 500 miles from home, and had nowhere to go for the night.
There is, however, a special place in hell for people who steal from charities. A few years ago I read in the news that the director of a charity food bank, that my family and I regularly gave to, was arrested for selling donated food to line her own pocket. Over the years we had given thousands of dollars worth of food to the place. Not just stuff that we wanted out of our cupboards; stuff that we specifically bought and donated.

What, they were stealing the toys to sell them and buy AK-47s?
