Default Buying factory race products.

Let's say I have a buddy who has a race license. Is he able to walk into any dealership and buy the race parts? Or does he need to show proof of ownership of the bike in question?

This is always a tricky insider deal. You can get most Yosh stuff over the counter no questions asked. HRC stuff can be had by well connected dealers only and then with alot of Q's and hassle. They wont let you have any of the current stuff either, Kawasaki stuff is easier to come by contact attack kawasaki. I have no experience with Yamaha but they are alleged to have some kit parts at the dealer level. I know you can walk in and order GP stuff for TZs but as for 1 parts?

I would assume you're talking about Buell race parts. I know I sure want a few pieces out of the catalog.

Knowing what kind of bike is important. Because generally speaking no you cannot get the factory race parts. The stuff you can get you should be buying from someone other than the OEM dealer.

MJ had an interview a year or two ago where he talked about wanting to buy better parts for his team from factory Suzuki/Yosh and they told him point blank "you can't afford it" He said umm yeah I can. And they reiterated no you can't. Thats why they call that stuff "unobtanium". The "good" parts are one off for specific teams. Whether that be Yosh or even Ohlins or Showa parts.

A couple years ago I got a TON of good parts from Erion for my 954. But that was never a Superbike, and this was years after the fact.

Well lets say you want a cool streetbike and buy an 1125R for 10K. Then you throw 5K worth of aftermarket or Buell race parts on it, what have you got?

The Buell race has some trick shit on it but most of that is useless on the street doesnt pick up that much performance...Or say your are going Ama DMG racing and can buy the 'package' for 40K. You could also own an 1198 R or a fully professioannly prepped gsxr or R1...

You're thinking way too much into this.

Buells race catalogue has some nice useful stuff in it. But, you need a license to buy it. They sell a programmable ecm that I'd like to look into.

This is mostly curiousity of course.
