Darwin was hard at work, this morning
Some guy was apparently trying to steal copper wire from an empty industrial building in Brampton, this morning. From an industrial transformer. That was still live.
A bus driver spotted him rolling around on the ground, in agony, with more than 90% of his body covered in 3rd degree burns. They took him to the local hospital, but then transferred him down to Toronto. You think these guys would learn or, you know, just die and get it over with.

This shit happens amazingly often. Even in 500kV switchyards. People are stupid.

then there was the guy up in NJ who tried to bring fiber optic cable to the scrap yard....

Got to love a happy ending to these stories. Every fukking substation copper thief needs to die a horrible death.

I guess that these guys aren't exactly rocket scientists. A few years back a huge internet outage was caused by copper thieves tearing up a junction point, here in Toronto.
It was served with fibre.

They're pretty sure he's not going to make it. I figure that he'd end up looking like Captain Christopher Pike, if he survives.
