need opinions about selling a house
I'm having a disagreement with my mother in law. They're going ot put their house on the market but...they're both smokers. heavy duty, yellow walls, dirty window smokers. 2+ packs a day EACH. She says that people won't care about the smell. They're going to repaint, clean the windows, and take out possibly replace the carpets. But it still stinks.
Do people care? Will buyers be turned off? I know I am - I can't hardly stand being in her house for any period of time even when she's NOT smoking in front of me. But I MAY be overreacting...

Never in a thousand years would I buy a smelly house. Especially not one that smelled like cigarettes.

unless they are smokers, people care. smokers ruin shit.
a nonsmoker can pick up immediately on the stench of smoking no matter what you do to the house, especially the amount they smoke.

NO WAY in hell I would buy it. I hate smoker stench.
They do have that new scent eliminator paint http://dutchboy.com/refresh/faq/ I suggest they use allot of it. Plus new carpet, and new furniture. |

Dang that blows. Stole your gun collection? Did you get it back?
I do not put up with BS. I would cut my own Mom out of my life if she was Mother Teresa herself for that kind of drama.

Repainting WILL NOT get rid of the smell. They'll probably have to sale it their selves cause I doubt a realtor would even touch it.
