Do you loan your stuff out?
Cruzergirl’s thread lead to this.
Do you loan your stuff out? Do you set limits based on value or reparability? Based on how old it is? Emotional significance? What do you expect from the borrowers? For the sake of discussion let’s keep it to items of significant value: bikes, cars, boats homes, etc.

I may loan an article of clothing to someone, or perhaps a book, but never something of value. NO ONE drives my car or rides my bike, nor do I loan money to anyone. I may give money as a gift if I have it, but never a loan.

Depends what it is... if at all, it's only to VERY close, trustworthy friends, or family.

I would say more "Depends who it is"
I have lent my bike out, but the lendee let me take his '72 911T for a spin. Me and my other friend always traded bikes, but if one of us wrecked, the other would get his bike until the other one was fixed. I have also been on the recieving end. When I went to NY to meet Steve and Joy, Joy lent me her bike after meeting me for the first time.

I rarely loan stuff (of any decent value) out. I probably have 2 or 3 friends and a few family members that I would loan anything of value to. I'd just rather avoid the hassle of others not taking care of my stuff like what happened in Cruzergirl's situation.

I'd borrow your Katoom.
The responses so far are intriguing. I'd love to dissect this further.
