I get the appeal of the big bang theory, but the .454 I shot, hurt my hand/wrist too much to make it fun.

I've never even shot a .454 but I can understand that. Regardless of how hard it kicks at more than a buck per shot it would hurt my wallet more. That would relegate the .454 to an occasional thing.

If you've shot both how did .454 compare to a .44 mag?

For the price of a nice DE, you could get yourself a proper zombie gun, like a .357 Python.

I said i'm getting a DE .50 (The Israeli arms model, with the 10" barrel). Not a pussy .357.

I will be getting a wheel gun though, and it probably will be a .357. But I wanted a DE since I was a child. It's one of those novelty guns that you rarely shoot, but pray somebody breaks into your house so you can see what it really does.

The .44 I shot was a Magna-ported Ruger, and it didn't kick much more than a .38.

Hey, if you're happy, I'm happy.

Wait, 10 inch barrel? That's a fucking goose gun.

I can't answer for him but my experience is if you are shooting full house 454 you want it is a single action frame with a grip designed to roll in your hand. I routinely carry either a S&W Governor or a Performance center Model 29 S&W, even loaded hot neither of them compare to the push back on a loaded 454. I have nothing bad to say about Taurus products but it would be a cold day in Hell before I would light up a full 454 round in a gun with that grip angle or that sticky a grip. I have used my buddies Freedom arms pistol few times for different reasons that is a beast,

Personally if I were entering this market today I woud be looking hard at the RR 458

True.
I already have a varmint style RRA. If I were to venture into this particular avenue, it would be to build a heavy duty brush gun for putting serious *whump* on angry hogs.
Though, to be honest, I could just buy a Marlin 'Guide Gun' and do the same thing (albeit, not semi-auto or detachable mag) for less money.

ONSSP surprised me yesterday with a Mossberg 500! Been wanting a shotgun for a while and she got a pretty good black Friday deal... Stoked!
