Getting tired of stepping over body work in the basement. Mights as well mount a couple of pieces to get them out of the way.

Think I've found the naughty cylinder.

Its actually running a bit better today.
Instead of sounding like its idling on 2 it sounds like it's idling on 3.

It would normally do this every season. It would take about 2 tanks of fresh fuel + techron before it cleared its throat.

From cold start and "oh yeah, maybe I should turn the petcock to on"

Testing throttle response as it warms up. Response is a bit on the lazy side.

Yeah the response isn't great... but is that normal for those carbs?

Not on the 11 I've ridden. Sounds rough at Idle. Like my CBR did when it was running on 3. (Minus the hissing from the burned valve of course )

Carbs haven't been synched in ages.

Gas Man 04-22-2012 11:48 AM

And syncing may be the ticket...

Yeah, it sounds like a p-twin at idle.

Major update
Replaced the plugs.
Pulled carbs and kung fu'd the float bowl screws with my brand spanking new impact screwdriver.
Pulled the float bowls, mains, pilots, air mix screw (or as I like to call it...that other thingy)
Guitar wire+carb cleaner +vacation day every hole, nook and cranny.
Air mix screw thingys 2 turns out.
All float bowl screws replaced with 2.5mm hexmobobs and 30 minutes fighting to get the throttle cables back together at the grip and everything is mounted.
Fresh gas into the tank and and into my trusty gasoline jar and I hit the start button.
Once the gas makes it to the fuel pump the bike springs to life.
Choke is only required for a couple of seconds and it reponds nicely to the throttle (at least as well as I ever remember it responding) even when cold.
No more fucking bogging at the slightest throttle inputs when cold.
Bike warms up and I set the idle to 1000rpm. Responds ok. Set it between 1K and 1.5K and it just like old times.

Way too tempting so I took it for a spin around the block (or two).
Holy crap its been awhile
Forgot how much lower the ride height is compared to the CBR. Must have accidentally sprayed some armor all on the seat because I'm sliding all over the damn place. The ride is straight out of a 90's Buick. It soaks up everything. Rocks, animals...houses.
Pulls cleanly from any RPM. No hesitation.
Twist the throttle and speed noise rise smoothly.
Gear box is in fine shape, I hate to say it but its smoother than the CBR.
Clutch feels a bit vague. That probably could use attention but at no point do I detect slippage neither was there an issue with getting going. The engagement point is just weird and the lever itself needs to be adjusted.

Took tried a couple of pulls from various RPM.
7K+ is definite happy zone.

I think I going to consider this done
