That graphic seems to indicate some kind of a firearms violation in TX in 2010. I'm also reading he shot out someone's tires in 2004 in Seattle. I'm curious to see how he obtained any guns at all.

Either way background checks are going to be hammered again and Feinstein is already blathering about more gun control.

Seems to have had a bit of an anger management problem. Two incidents are being cited in which he blew his stack, then fired a weapon. Sounds like the sort of person who should have lost his 'right.' Not that it would have necessarily stopped someone like him, but there's no need to facilitate him either.

Unconfirmed report is that he purchased a shotgun in VA, broke it down in a bag to get thru security, then used it to take an AR and a pistol from an officer on base.

Unless it was a private purchase he would have had to pass a background check for any gun he brought with him. Based on the initial information coming out about his history I would think there are more than enough reasons for him not to pass.

I agree, based on what is being said about this guy's history he would seem to be the ideal candidate to get flagged by a background check. If these reports are accurate, and he bought the gun/s himself, there was a breakdown in the system somewhere.

n ot really, ftf there is no background check, just falls into anti 2a. agenda

And therein lies a massive issue.

CNN was on the air earlier reporting that he did NOT have an AR but a shotgun and possibly two stolen (from security) pistols. They are saying he bought the shotgun last week in VA and rented an AR. He attempted to buy an AR at the same store but was refused according to their ATF source. No word currently on why they would not sell him the rifle.

[ 8:55 a.m. ET] Authorities have recovered three weapons from the scene of the shooting, federal law enforcement sources said. Investigators believe Alexis brought a shotgun into the compound and may have taken two handguns from guards, the sources said.

Initial reports said Alexis used an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle during the attack, but by Tuesday, law enforcement sources with knowledge of the investigation said that was not the case.

It is believed that Alexis had rented an AR-15, but returned it before Monday's shooting, the officials said. Investigators have recovered three weapons from the scene, including a shotgun that Alexis is believed to have brought into the compound. The other two weapons – handguns – the sources say, may have been taken from guards.
