Haven't done a lot of blackout research. Do the carbine barrels typically COME with pistol length gas blocks? Or is that something you had to seach and find a MFG that did it?

A lot of manufacturers, sell their 300 blk 16 inch guns with carbine length gas system . In the 7 or 8 I have have handled , none have been reliable with subsonics. With or without a can on. I have seen we are CMMG , Wilson, or AAC all fail to function with subsonic ammo (Remington 220 grain) can on or off. Personally I tried different buffer and spring combos and opening up the gasport. Nothing made it reliable. (Got it to run about 80% with the can on). I switched to a pistol length gas system and it runs like 100% , can on or off with subs. No sign of over gassing with super sonic without the can . With the can on and supersonic ammo , occasionally the bolt wont stay ope on the last round. I tell anyone if you are going to run subs go with a pistol length gas system.

Very nice! My friend next door has a SWEET over/under - the Silver Pigeon. The detail and finish on that gun is sick.

Holy moly. That's beautiful. Mine is more utilitarian than that. I say it's a chick gun because it has serious commitment issues on which ammo to go with. :eightball6:

Lee my FIL is a clock repairman and for the last several years has gotten into engraving. HIS father was REAL big into guns and had several old single action colts, and 2 1847 Walkers.

He ended up engraving ONE of the Walkers, along with several single action colts, a Derringer, and several long guns. Problem is...he gets started on one and gets 95% complete and kind of loses interest. Like the Walker....it's in need of "shading" on one side to complete it.

Funny thing is, my FIL is not INTO guns that much. He just has all of his dads guns. Several dozen late 1800's and early 1900's models. I think he has about 9 .22 speedmaster rifles.

I was just able to SEE most of them last weekend (he's embarrassed at their condition and the fact he's NEVER cleaned most of them, knowing how I am about keeping a gun clean) since we're trying to talk him into a safe. They've been hidden thruout the house for 50 years.

I want to box and display that walker!

Heat of the moment, imminent threat of a weapon that was pointed at him, and an obvious accomplice. As long as his weapon was legal, I think he'd 'get away with it' almost anywhere, that has a reasonable legal system.

Yeah, there should be no question about it... unfortunately, that's not necessarily the way things work.

Change that to 65% complete for any project, change it from "kind of loses interest" to "sits on his ass" and that sounds exactly like my brother-in-law.

RACER X 05-22-2013 03:37 PM

Z wants her " shield" back so now I need to look for a CCW, glock 30s or M&P 45c

I've ordered a raven concepts vanguard 2 minimalist holster for the 45c, for $40, I'll take the minor loss if I don't like it

just need to find places that rent those 2 guns

CasterTroy 05-23-2013 09:05 AM

RACER X 05-23-2013 10:21 AM

couldn't you have done the trust and gotten the stamp under way while waiting for your can?

there are places here doing trust for $300 to $200 w attys

one place has a form letter you fill out, all for free if you buy the can/ weapon from them

I've been telling the dealer that for 6 months Ed. But he's a hardheaded sumbitch! He wouldn't send me a template till he got the can. I still haven't figured that out. Now I have to navigate this legal jargon template to saw what I need it to say.

I am Reasonably sure that the Dealer needs the traveling papers with the serial number in his book before you can complete the Form 4. That if you are doing personal owner ship . The Purpose question answer if always "For My Collection"

CasterTroy 05-23-2013 03:57 PM

I had intended to use "For any lawful use"

But if that works better, hey, I'm easy.

I'm doing a revocable living trust agreement using the dealers template. He's never had one kicked back.
Question to YOU....Last page is a Schedule B. He told me no numbers or descriptions would go to the NFA on my trust. When I asked for the serial number and MFG he said "The can does not get added to you trust until the atf approves it"

So my question is....what gets filled out on the Schedule B?

I'll start this build in about a month 7.62 x 51 NATO / .308 WIN caliber

British L1A1 parts kit I purchased back in the mid 90 for $99 ( they're going for $500 - $700+ right now) plus a receiver I purchased.

Here's what they look like assembled
http://images.fineartamerica.com/ima...w-chittock.jpg

I also have a "sporterized" L1A1 purchased around the same time as the kit which I found out I can legally convert back to original specs by replacing 7 of 17 parts wityh US made parts.

I think I'll go that route with the pistol (soon to be SBR) since the trigger pull on it is more consistent with CQB needs and not distance precision.

I want to build a 20" bull barrel 5.56 next, and the Gold trigger is most def going in THAT.

My neighbor (quiet Doctor, whom you'd NEVER suspect was into guns...actually...he's a divorced father of 3 that keeps to himself) came over last night as I was rebuilding the forks on the YZ and saw the pistol AR on the counter. He asked some very pointed questions, and acknowledged the optics correctly. I was shocked. Dude's lived next to me for 4 years and is only NOW trusting me enough to talk about his stash.

Dude's rockin 5 AR's and 15k rounds of ammo, and recently purchased some night vision. I'm going over tonight to check it out, coupled with his lasers and my pistol (has a NV setting) I'm quite certain my wife will HATE this dude by the end of the week (Baby can I PLEASE have $3500 for some NV goggles?)

So now we have 3 "Tackleberrys" on my street in a row! I pity the fool who comes down our little road.

Reminds me of a guy I work with, he builds all kinds of different AKs. Bought all kinds of tools to do a lot of the work himself. I forget how many he has now, but it's a fuck ton. However, he basically owns almost no ammo. He shoots them a few times after he builds them to make sure everything works properly and sight them, but after that they pretty much go on display. He just likes building them.

I understand I have a small collection. I enjoy building AKs My self, because unlike ARs they are not Plug and Play Lego sets. I know I have done more Ak's for friends than I am ever likely to own. I will sat though I am disgusted by the Market right now. I mean 799 for a Romanian? When I think of how many of those I put together on one hundred dollar kits and $50 dollar receivers, either not charging my buddies or or feelling guilty charging a $100 to do the build.

I like mine. It shoots very well ( it's a battle rifle not a sniper rifle) and as the the AR15 folks are finding out, it's the better design being a gas piston.

There is a guy on the FAL files who hasn't cleaned his weapon ( other than som eoil ) in over 10 years and has fired over 16,500 rounds thru it ( 7.62 x 51 / .308 win caliber ) It's still going strong and still as accurate as when just built.

This was SO much more fun than I ever expected.

Might be time to book a trip to Spike Box Ranch in Benjamin Tx to hunt some wild hogs at night! Who's up for it?

Seen lots of 10/22's, you could just get one of those and get an aftermarket stock. Haven't seen any takedowns.

RACER X 06-10-2013 10:07 AM

ah just ordered it online + 800rds, $400 delivered

$20 ffl

ammo: American eagle 400/$40 x 2

is that a fair price for the ammo

now I really need a stamp for a supr. Would hate to hurt the kids hearing, lol

yes she already has pink earmuffs and shooting glasses

For what caliber?
.22? FUCK no just ordered (2) 325 federals for $18.99 each.....and HERE's the UPS guy now!!! Whoo hooooo!!!
9mm? ehhhh My Blazer Brass order JUST arrived: $107.94 for 300 rounds
223? Yes....$.50 is a good price, if it's in stock

Trip 06-10-2013 10:37 AM

$19 for 325 is a bad price. Stupid asshats driving up the price of 22. 500 at wally world was like $15 before Sandy Hook.

We'll that post was about the 22 i just ordered, lol

22 ammo you linked OOS, limit 1

bought 500rds WWB last week for $140

somebody link me to some well priced 22! Lol :-P

Trip 06-10-2013 10:41 AM

22 is now the ammo thats hardest to get for a decent price. Asshats keep buying it up and reselling for profit. It's not even a hoarding issue, it's a greed one. I hope it crashes down on them.

That was then. It may take a year or longer for .22 to come back to a decent price.....OR it may go the way of Gas and STAY high. Bottom line is, IF you want to go have fun with the kids, you pay $19 for 325 or you just don't shoot.

5.6 cents a round is about the best I've seen since December. Gunbot is showing the average to be 14-17 cent a round for what is IN STOCK. (here's your link Ed!)

I don't hoard OR resell. I keep a certain amount onhand at any given time, and buy when I want to go shoot.

The boy love's the M1 9mm and wants to fly thru 300 rounds every weekend. That was FINE when I was getting PMC brass for $249/1000 last year...but we have to be more conservative now. We tend to shoot more .22 now and try more distance/precision shots (i.e. 100 yard bench) and stay away from the pistol distances.

It was a limit 2 last week. Got 2 and they came in today so we can shoot this weekend :rockwoot:

Twobanger 06-10-2013 11:37 AM

Are those former preban magazines that are now going to be banned?

That 140.00 wasn't for 500 rounds of .22 right?

After three years without seeing a single hog, I have them now. One in particular needs killing in the worst way. Bastard destroyed a feeder and managed to open up the timer box/motor and destroy them as well.

RACER X 06-10-2013 12:51 PM

being the cheap basturd that I am, is there a supr. that I can use on both the AR & ruger ? 2 diff. mounts same can? 1 stamp

Twobanger 06-10-2013 02:02 PM

Probably not. You'll lead up the supressor running .22 through a .223 can. Buy a .22 can and a 7.62 can. That way you can shoot .223 and .308 through it.

CasterTroy 06-10-2013 02:11 PM

I've never understood the hang-up of paying for the stamp :skep:

Gemtech says that running 22 through a 223 can is fine as long as you periodically run a mag or so of 223 through the can to clear the lead out.
I have a GemTech Halo that I run on my AR22 My S&W AR chambered in 5.45 and on my 223 AR. I have to confess that I hadn't been using the 223 all that much but had been blasting away with the AR22 and the fist time I ran it on the S&W 5.45 the lead blowing off the inside medial blasted the A2 that the Halo mounts on.

RACER X 06-11-2013 10:46 AM

damnit, cancelled that order on that 10/22 cuz

a) they are avail locally for like $30 more after everything Is done
b) theirs a 10/22 takedown w a threaded barrel, and flash suppressor from Ruger, nearly impossible to find. but I've found one only $180 more lol

But again....you pay to play  It's either wince once or cringe daily for 10-20 every time you "group shower" :tremble:

I guess I see it like a parking ticket. Just pay the damn thing and move on!

RACER X 06-11-2013 11:21 AM

I see saving $200 on one stamp, as the ability to buy another stamp or toy

some of us have budgets, lol

RACER X 06-12-2013 07:36 AM

picked up the 10/22 last night, had a few rounds behind the counter fire new gun sales, so we have done ammo

factory stock is long for her, found a guy locally modifying collapsible stocks, $170 for a $95 stock

hmmmm

RACER X 06-12-2013 07:43 PM

Rangerscott 06-12-2013 08:35 PM

RACER X 06-12-2013 08:56 PM
